About your local Dr. Cliff Approved Audiologist

Dr. Charles Sanders received his Bachelor’s and Master’s from CSUS and his doctorate at Salus University. Dr. Sanders is a native of the area and his father was the manager of the fish hatchery at Lake Natoma. He, like his father, loves this area with all his heart and wants to help as many people as possible.

For over 15 years, he’s been listening to people just like you, helping them live a more fulfilling life through better hearing. Not only does he provide Audiology services at Gold Country Hearing, he has been an instructor at CSUS in the Communication Sciences and Disorders department for over 7 years.

When he’s not at work he’s either spending time with his family hiking and backpacking or watching his favorite TV show, Star Trek.

Why do you feel Best Practices are critical for optimal Hearing Aid performance?

"Best Practices are imperative for optimal Hearing Aid performance.  Hearing can be very subjective.  It’s not once size or sound fit all.  Each person and their hearing is unique.  But there needs to be a standard to start with.  By establishing and maintaining Best Practices and using Evidence Based Practice to judge an Audiologist can ensure that their patients are getting the most out of their hearing. Everyone deserves to have the highest quality service and care."

Why did you feel compelled to join the Dr. Cliff Approved Provider Network?

"I wanted to join the Dr. Cliff network to be part of group with the same ideals.  Too many times have I seen patients not receive even the most basic levels of care when they come to me from a hearing aid store.  Being a member of this group keeps me on my toes. It makes me maintain the highest standards of care for each and every one of my patients."

What do you like best about Audiology?

"Audiology is amazing.  I love that I can find a problem and fix it right away.  Helping someone who is isolated and separate because of their ability to hear is an amazing feeling.  In just moments I can take someone with poor hearing and improve their situation.   Meeting with my patients a week after their fitting and listening to the stories of connection and discovery are just wonderful. There is nothing like that feeling of touching people’s lives in this deep and meaningful way."

What was your journey to becoming an Audiologist?

"Growing up my mother was a nurse and my father a scientist.  So medical care and science were in my blood.   As I was going through college I discovered my own hearing loss.  Seeing the change in my own life made me want to be able to offer that same change to others. So many people with hearing loss get left behind and become isolated and lonely. I want to prevent that."
