Mike Zacharias

Mike's interest in hearing health care began in 2016 while working for Costco. The mix of helping people and technology was something he was very interested in. Mike attended the Douglas College hearing instrument practitioner program in the fall of 2017. Professional practice was a major focus at Douglas. Every hearing aid fitting needed to be verified with Real Ear Measurements and ANSI testing. In British Columbia hearing instrument practitioners and audiologists are governed and regulated by the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals, which requires two exams to be licensed, one written and one practical.  While attending school he was able to work for three separate ENT doctors, giving him hands-on experience with patients. On average he would do about 14 full hearing tests per day, deeping his expertise in hearing testing, tympanometry, OAE's and otoscopy. After graduation Mike was hired by a large hearing aid retailer on the Sunshine Coast of BC. It was a great learning experience in clinic operations, client counselling, new technologies and professional practice in a non school setting. After three years Mike and his partner decided it was time to start their own clinic, and Anchor Hearing was born! Opening officially in September of 2022, Mike has been able to give the clients a more personal hearing health journey. He's very excited by all the new technologies being released in the hearing aid industry and loves being able to use them in practice for each client's individual benefit. ‍
