About your local Dr. Cliff Approved Audiologist

Dr. Shannon Frymark was raised in Greensboro, NC. She received her Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders and Master of Arts degree in Audiology from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. She was awarded her doctorate in Audiology from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry: School of Audiology. While in undergraduate and graduate school, she worked at the Central School for the Deaf as a residential counselor. Dr. Frymark spent her first five years of her audiology career with Florida Hospital in central Florida. She gained specialized skills in pediatric diagnostic care, central auditory processing evaluations and hearing aid / assistive listening device management. The youngest patient she fit with hearing aids was 6 weeks old! In addition, she provided vestibular and electrophysiologic diagnostic testing for both pediatric and adult population. She then worked for a world-renowned hearing aid manufacturer for 12 years as an audiology trainer contributing to her knowledge and passion of the hearing aid field. She trained other hearing care professionals in hospital, ENT, VA and private practice settings in the southeast. After Dr. Frymark was involved in a life threatening accident that placed her in Baptist ICU for a month, she knew it was time to be off the road to focus on her rehabilitation. In 2009, she along with her husband Dr. Emil Frymark, acquired Aim Hearing. Joining Aim Hearing, she absolutely loved serving her own patients once again and watching the practice grow clinically. They transitioned the practice from a retail model to a medical model which allowed them to serve the medical community and take on more complex cases. Several years later, a local surgeon and UNC- Chapel Hill asked if Aim would be a collaborative clinic and assist with bone anchored and cochlear implant technology mappings. Dr. Frymark has greatly enjoyed watching Aim grow and expand to serve our community with care for cochlear implants, hearing aids, tinnitus and more.Dr. Frymark earned her Clinical Certificate of Competence from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA CCC-A), is a fellow of the Academy of Doctors of Audiology and a member of the NC Audiology Association.Dr. Frymark’s passion for the field of audiology stems from personal experience. Born with a hearing loss in both ears, she has worn hearing aids and assistive listening devices since age 3. She prioritizes serving her patients by implementing current research and diagnostic standards. She is passionate about providing superior hearing healthcare services and products to her patients and their families. Dr. Frymark enjoys helping patients on their personal hearing journeys and believes in a well-rounded approach to hearing healthcare.‍
