Within the past few months Signia released the Pure Charge & Go Hearing Aid. It received a lot of attention due to the Own Voice Processing (OVP) capabilities of the devices. However this is not why I find these devices impressive. They are impressive because they can do just about everything.
#1. They are rechargeable - They use Lithium rechargeable technology which provides 19 hours of battery life without streaming and 17 hours of battery life with 5 hours streaming. The devices also turn on immediately after removing them from the charger. The only thing I don't like about the charger is that it doesn't have a dehydrator kit built in.
#2. It has the Broadest Wireless capabilities of any hearing aid - You can connect directly to an iPhone for streaming audio and phone calls to both ears. You can connect to an Android phone and TV, but it requires a StreamLine accessory. The myControl app is excellent and allows for numerous adjustments.
#3. Tinnitus Relief Feature - I'm usually not a fan of tinnitus maskers, but Signia uses Notch Therapy. This helps by stimulating the nerves adjacent to your tinnitus frequency to help reduce the perception of your tinnitus.
#4. Own Voice Processing (OVP) - I couldn't tell a difference with the OVP on or off. However, their research indicates that some users prefer the reduction of their own voice amplification. This does NOT eliminate the Occlusion Effect. That is a venting issue not sound processing issue.
#5. Telecare 3.0 - Teleaudiology has picked up some steam in the recent months. This allows a hearing care professional to program your hearing aids remotely. My out of state patients love this because they don't have to travel back to my clinic for an adjustment.
The only thing you may not like is the size and look of the device. It is on the larger side so if you want an invisible device the Charge and go may not be your best option.
Overall, the Signia Pure Charge & Go hearing aid has nearly everything you could want in a hearing aid.
However, if you want ANY hearing aid to perform at its best, you need to have Real Ear Measurement performed on them. To learn about REM watch this video:
